Personal branding isn't about becoming a LinkedIn influencer. It's about being the first person people think of when they need someone with your expertise.
It's not about going viral. It's about being consistently visible to the right people. So that when they need a consultant, a partner, a hire, or an expert opinion, your name comes up first.
Step 1: Define your positioning
Before you write a single post, answer three questions:
Who do you help? Be specific. "B2B SaaS founders" is better than "business professionals."
What problem do you solve? "I help them build predictable revenue through outbound sales" is better than "I help them grow."
What makes you different? Your methodology, your background, your contrarian view, your personality. Something.
The test: could someone refer you in one sentence? "Talk to [your name], they help [audience] do [thing]." If that sentence doesn't exist, your positioning isn't clear enough.
Step 2: Optimize your profile
Your profile is your brand's homepage. Every element reinforces your positioning.
Headline: Lead with value. Use the Headline Analyzer. Read the headline guide.
About section: Hook, problem, solution, proof, CTA. Follow our About section guide.
Banner: Your value proposition, visually.
Featured: Pin your best content.

Step 3: Build a content system
Consistency is the foundation. You need a system, not motivation.
Choose 3-4 content pillars. Set a posting frequency (3-5x/week). Batch your content creation. Use the Hook Generator to kickstart ideas. Post at optimal times.

Step 4: Develop your voice
Your voice is what makes you recognizable.
Be opinionated. Take a stand. "Hot takes" (when genuine) get engagement and make you memorable.
Write like you talk. Read your posts out loud. If they sound like a corporate memo, rewrite.
Share failures. Vulnerability builds trust faster than polished success stories.
Have a signature. Maybe you always start with a bold statement. Maybe you end every post with the same question format. Something that becomes yours.
Step 5: Build community, not just audience
Reply to every comment. Non-negotiable. It builds loyalty and boosts your posts algorithmically.
Comment on others' posts. 15-20 minutes daily. Thoughtful, substantive comments. Not "great post."
Support other creators. Share their stuff. Tag them when relevant.
Move relationships offline. DM people who engage consistently. Offer to hop on a call.
Measuring your brand's growth
Track monthly: profile views (are more people checking you out?), engagement rate (is your content resonating?), inbound DMs (are opportunities coming to you?), search appearances (are you showing up for your target keywords?).
